Backgammon Million Event Wrapped Up on 25th

29th of January 2007

The hottest backgammon event of the year wrapped up on January 25th, with the PartyGammon Million coming to an end in the Bahamas. This event, with a max of 128 players, had a buy in of ten thousand dollars, matching that of the biggest event in the poker world, the main event of the World Series of Poker. The event, which ran from the 21st through the 25th, attracted the world's top players from countries like the United States of America, France, Denmark and Israel, and some top players like Steve Sax, USA, Falafel Natanzon, Israel, Kent Goulding, UK, Andreas Humke, Denmark, and Francois Tardieu, France.

While the advertisements for the PartyGammon Million have been in palce for a while, the biggest part of the news - besides who will win - was the top prize. A total prize pool exceeded one million - reaching up into $1.2 million - which meant the winner would take home over $600,000. There was a real battle for the prize and many considered Danish masters Sander Lyloff and Henrik Veje favorites, but it was Andreas Martens from Germany who emerged as the winner and took home over $600k.
