Davenport's Kasbah Includes Backgammon
05th of March 2007
The Davenport College celebration of the Middle East, titled "Night at the Kasbah," was put on recently to show students a good time and immerse them in the culture of the Middle East. With a $5,000 budget, the event drew more than 1,500 students. The students enjoyed belly dancing and played backgammon - one of the most popular pass times in the Middle East. A palatial lounge was laid out with trays of baklava and tea, and students stretched out on cushions to play okey, a game from Turkey, and backgammon.
