Japan Shogi Champ Calls Backgammon Emotional
24th of January 2007
Yoshiharu Habu is the Japanese shogi champion. On February 14, 1996, at the age of 25, Habu picked up a 7th title, the only person ever to accomplish such a feat. Shogi (Japanese chess) is an ancient game, but this young player plays it better than anyone. In a recent interview Habu was asked what he thought about chess, go, and backgammon. Habu pointed out that chess leaves little to chance, go is a visual game, and backgammon is a very emotional game, thanks to the fate of the dice.
