UIGEA Forces Pokies to Backgammon

24th of January 2007

When the US Government passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) into law in the Autumn of 2006, it forced many online poker companies into retreat. The net effect to date has been an increase in the player base of those online poker companies that did not turn away from the US, but it also brought those online players looking for some challenges to backgammon. With more online backgammon sites, both for play money and for real, becoming available, 2007 might be a banner year for the online backgammon industry.
