The Amazing Book of Backgammon, Backgammon Boot Camp
What if you are stranded in-house or find yourself without a good backgammon buddy or tutor to help you get started in the game or improve your play? Out of luck? Not by a long shot! Simply hit your local library and search for any books they have on backgammon - or have someone do it for you. If you are lucky to have a computer and Internet access at home, then you can even search online for books to buy (or even connect to your local library, many these days have a website to search from).
Here are a couple of good backgammon books for the beginner or novice player to soak in and enjoy:
The Amazing Book of Backgammon
Author: Jon Tremaine
Publisher:Tiger Books International
This large format, 125-page book is beautifully illustrated, and that is its strength and worthiness. Lots of diagrams and visual pointers on the setup, strategy and playing of the game for beginners or novices, who will appreciate the visual instruction.
Backgammon Boot Camp
Author:Walter Trice
Publisher:The Fortuitous Press
A simple looking, and simple designed book, Backgammon Boot Camp might fool you if you judge a book by its cover - this is actually a handy one for beginners or those starting out and wanting to improve their game as it covers a wide variety of subjects/topics. Plus, you can even test-drive it a bit as there is a free PDF sample chapter to download from http://www.bkgm.com/books/Trice-BackgammonBootCamp.html
