Another Great Backgammon Software Game by David Byrum

We already gave Macintosh users a heads up about one of the best backgammon games they could play on their computer platform - "Absolute Backgammon" by David Byrum. It plays and looks gorgeous in Mac OS X, and even incorporates text-to-speech and voice recognition so you can play almost totally by talking, hands free.

But we don't want you to think there are not great backgammon versions out there for the PC platform because there are – in fact, tons more than on the Mac because of the heavily tilted user base number in favor of the PC users (and thus, usually this means the ratio of software on a subject favors in number to the PC side as well). So, PC players, we'd like to make sure you give this software backgammon game a try, one also made by Byrum, called "David's Backgammon." You can download a demo or trial version from http://www.bestbackgammon.com

Although this one does not dazzle the eyes like his Mac-built "Absolute Backgammon" version, "David's Backgammon" still packs a lot of punch and offers a ton of options (in fact, many more than the "Absolute" one). Aside from the obvious convenience and practice of play versus the computer, you get to style or customize your board design by choosing from several wood decorations or board styles (even hunting for and downloading ones others have created), as well as choose your skill level or opponent's "personality" (as in aggressive or less-than playing style).
